Free Fall Risk Assessment

TIMED UP AND GO

The “Timed Up and Go” (TUG) test is a simple and widely used clinical performance based measurement of mobility, lower extremity function and fall risk. The test requires a series of key tasks which are necessary for a person to be independent. These tasks include standing from a seated position, walking 10 feet (3 meters), turning, stopping and sitting down which are all important tasks.

SIT TO STAND

The “Sit to Stand” Test is a simple and widely used clinical physical performance test used to assess lower extremity function. A reduction in Lower extremity function and strength have been shown to predict subsequent development of disability as it may reflect the effects of chronic disease, coexisting conditions, and overall physiologic decline. The 5-repetition test is a measure of strength. The 30 seconds timed test is a measure of strength and endurance.

FUNCTIONAL REACH TEST

The Functional Reach Test is a simple and widely clinical performance based measurement of standing balance and limits of stability. The test measures in inches the difference between arm’s length and maximal forward reach, using a fixed base support. The Functional Reach test can be used to identify balance impairments or changes in balance over time.
